Who are Ballamona Association for Mental Health?

The Ballamona Association for Mental Health (BAMH) has been in existence since 1966, when it was founded as the Ballamona Hospital League of Friends. BAMH directors and members are all volunteers, committed to supporting and assisting those who have mental health problems. Originally, the Friends provided only for patients in hospital. However, people in the community may need support, and we also assist those living at home. We have purchased properties in order that people using mental health services can be supported in their recovery until they can be independent.

What we do and how we have helped

BAMH assists with projects and requests, large and small and for all ages. An application for help is submitted by the Care Co-ordinator, Key Worker or Lead Professional. In residential settings, applications are signed by managers. This is to make sure we target giving where need is the greatest, yet carefully managing the charity's funds. BAMH helps in the following ways:

How you can help us

We rely on the generosity of both our members and the general public. We provide only for the needs of people based on the Island. We receive donations and legacies which our Directors oversee.

It is estimated that one in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives. By donating to our Association or leaving us a legacy in your Will, you will be assisting us in improving the quality of life of someone who is experiencing difficulties as well as helping them in their recovery.
